Outreach services brings librarians and other trained library staff out of the library and directly into the community to serve our patrons in a variety of ways.
What we do: Children's librarians will visit schools, individual classrooms, community agencies and other organizations to speak about library programs and services. We accept invitations to conduct story programs at your location as our schedules allow. We can also provide training to agency staff related to early literacy and parent engagement, or other topics as requested. We are happy to partner with community groups and schools on a wide variety of projects.
Contact: Kaela Wallman, Youth Services Coordinator, at 518.388.4513 or email her at kwallman@mvls.info
What we do: Reference Librarians and other trained staff will speak at programs, workshops and other events. SCPl also partners with other community agencies and businesses for programs and events.
What we do: Library staff and volunteers provide recreational and educational library materials to Schenectady County residents of any age who are not able to come to the library due to physical or institutional limitations. This includes those living in senior apartments, assisted living facilities, and nursing homes as well as the homebound. Regular and large print books, audio books, and music CDs are delivered to these individuals by visiting library volunteers, by family or friends, by mail, or through the Meals on Wheels office. Themed Bi-Folkal Kits are also available through the Mohawk Valley Library System headquarters.
