SCPL partners with Bring On The Spectrum during the month of April
During April 2026, the Hon. Karen B. Johnson Main Library of the Schenectady County Public Library system is offering sensory supplies and resources to welcome patrons across the neurodiverse spectrum. A generous donation of fidget bags, noise-canceling headphones, flexible seating, and other tools was provided by local community partner Bring On The Spectrum. These in-house tools are suitable for a variety of age ranges, are located at multiple service points, and aim to provide regulation assistance in the often-overstimulating environment of the Main Library! During your next visit, look for new signage around the library and explore our Sensory Resource Guide, located in the Teen Zone. Feel free to ask staff to assist with accessing tools to make your library time work for you!
BOTS supplies are also available for patron use during library programs for all ages, and receive a special spotlight in the Sensory Hour programs offered at the Main Library. You might see SCPL library ambassadors with BOTS travel kits at outreach events around our community, too!
BOTS has supplied numerous public libraries across the Capital Region with sensory tools to better support neurodiverse library visitors. A full list of libraries utilizing BOTS supplies and offering related programming can be found here.
Schenectady County Public Library thanks Bring On The Spectrum for connecting with us to enhance our resource and service offerings for all patrons!
