Public Services Manager
Schenectady County Public Library (SCPL) is hiring for two (2) Public Services Manager positions, one to oversee the public services teams at our Hon. Karen B. Johnson Main Library, and another to manage several of our branch library locations. SCPL is in an exciting time of transition as we wrap up a strategic planning process and look forward to rolling out an updated strategic plan.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, skill in supervising, training, counseling and evaluating assigned employees, and commitment to continuous improvement and self-directed learning are key along with thorough knowledge of current library theories, issues, practices and trends.
Minimum qualifications:
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and six (6) years of experience providing services to the public, two (2) of which must have been in a library setting, and three (3) years of supervisory experience.

Starting salary:
$73,773
Schedule:
Primarily weekdays with occasional nights and weekends as needed (on call to handle urgent matters during nights and weekends).

Part-time Clerk (HELPS Program*)
Part-time clerks play a critical role in customer service and materials handling at SCPL’s nine library locations. Responsibilities include assisting patrons in registering for library cards, checking materials in/out, both packing and receiving delivery, and providing assistance using the library’s public computers, printer, scanner and fax machine. Must be flexible and work at all nine locations as needed.
Minimum qualifications:
(A) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, or
(B) One year of clerical experience.
Salary:
$19.47 per hour
Schedule:
Position is scheduled 24 hours per week which includes regular evening and weekend shifts.
Hours of Operation:
Main Library: Monday-Thursday (9am-8pm); Friday (9am-5pm); Saturday (10am-5pm); and Sunday (12pm-4pm)
Branches: Open Monday through Saturday with two weekday evenings until 7pm.
