The mission of the Schenectady County Public Library is to satisfy our community's educational, informational, cultural and recreational needs by providing free and open access to a comprehensive range of materials, services and programs.

Schenectady County Public Library provides reference services to the residents of Fulton, Montgomery, Schenectady and Schoharie counties. Library patrons may:
- contact the Central Library reference staff at 518.388.4511 to speak to a reference librarian during the Central Library's hours.
- use our online form. You will need to enter a library card number and password (the last 4 numbers of your phone number) to submit your question. Questions submitted electronically will be checked Monday through Friday. We will respond via phone or e-mail within two business days. Please indicate any sources you have checked in trying to answer this question.
- e-mail email@example.com questions related to history and genealogy, or for long distance reference questions.
- Let us help you find an obituary or news article that may have been published in one of our local papers. For a minimum fee of $5 we will undertake researching your request if you live outside the Capital Region.

Please make check payable to: "Schenectady County Public Library" for $5 per request.
The library reserves the right to collect the fee regardless of whether desired information is found.
Additional fees may apply dependent on time involved.
Long distance requests are completed as staff time allows.
